Lubricating Sliding Portion of K-Source Extendable Towing Mirrors

I have these mirror and over about a year, they have gotten really stiff. Once extended you have to rock the whole truck to get them back in what would you recommend lubricating them with?

I spoke with one of my contacts at K-Source, who tells me that a spray lubricant like WD-40 can be used to make extending and retracting the mirror easier. If you would prefer a dry lubricant, using powdered graphite would also be acceptable.
