16 inch Trailer Tire Recommendation for Tandem Axle Trailer with 15,000 GVWR

Question:

I just bought a 31 fifth wheel with dual axles , it came with st235/80/16 tires that are dry rotted. The trailer dry weigh is 9785 lbs with a giver if 15,000 lbs. I am trying to decide between E, F or g rated tires , can you help med decide on the best rating.

While it doesn't hurt to have more trailer tire capacity than needed it doesn't really gain you anything to go to a much higher Load Range than needed. Only real drawback though is you'll have to inflate the tires to a higher pressure rating since the higher the Load Range the higher the PSI requirements. So for a tandem axle trailer that weighs up to 15,000 lbs you'd need at least a tire capacity of 3,750 lbs which at this point requires tires that have over 100 psi so I would recommend the Westlake ST235/85R16 part # LHWL410 which is the size ST235/85R16 in a Load Range G with a weight capacity of 110 psi.

I really like this tire for you as it has a higher speed rating than most trailer tires at 81 mph and also comes with a really great warranty that also includes tire replacement.

I attached a review video for more info on this as well.
