What Happens if Jets Arent Changed on Generator at Higher Altitudes

Question:

I received a response about the different jets available for different elevations. What happens if the jets are not changed? Will the inverter generator run ?

When you use an inverter generator like the etrailer.com # 333-0001 at higher altitudes (without changing the jets to a high-altitude model) the unit is simply going to be less efficient with its power output.

At higher altitudes the air is less dense, which means there's less oxygen in it. What this does is reduce the amount of fuel that can be burned in a compression cycle, which leads to less power out of the generator engine. At altitudes greater than 3,000 feet above sea level you likely won't be able to get the full 2,000 watt starting output and 1,600 watt running output that this specific generator will otherwise give you under normal conditions.

Now there is a certain point where the generator may just quit working, but this likely wouldn't happen until you get to really high altitudes.

With all this in mind if you plan on traveling up to areas like this I highly recommend changing the jets as needed with the # 333-330717002, which will work well for 3,000 to 6,000 feet above sea level.
