Hitch Pin Holes Will Not Line Up Installing Yakima RidgeBack 4 On a 2019 Honda CR-V Factory Hitch
Question:
I cannot find a way to install the safety pin on my Yakima 4 bike tilt rack. I have a 1.25 dealer installed hitch. The rack fits securely and tightens appropriately but shaft impedes any through fit of the pin. Is the pin designed for use on the 1.25 hitch or am I doing something wrong? Thanks

The Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Rack part # Y02458 is compatible with 1-1/4" trailer hitch receiver pin holes but only those on a class II hitch. If you have a class I hitch then there could be a stop welded inside the receiver tube which is then preventing the shank from being inserted all the way therefore you can't line up the hitch pin holes. Furthermore, the factory trailer hitch could also not have enough depth for the Yakima RidgeBack which needs 1-1/2" minimum (see photo).
The best solution you have will be to replace the factory trailer hitch on your 2019 Honda CR-V with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13397 which is a direct bolt-on fit. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver will work just fine with the Yakima RidgeBack. If you don't want a new trailer hitch then a class I bike rack which is only rated for two bikes max is your only other option, the Thule Apex XT 2 Bike Rack part # TH9024XT is what I recommend.
