Winch Recommendation for 24 Foot Long Pontoon Boat that Has Auto Brake

What do you recommend for a 24 ft pontoon trailer . Currently have 2000 lb winch with no brake Would like a bolt on winch with auto brake.

When picking out a boat trailer winch in general the ratio of weight capacity to boat weight is 2:1 and most 24 foot pontoons like yours are 1,200 lb so you could pretty easily get a way with a 600 lb winch. But if you have a long winching distance and wooden bunks the ratio goes to right at 1:1.

That said, the higher rated the winch the easier is to handle, and since you want an auto brake I'd highly recommend the very high quality and easy to use Dutton Lainson Winch you mentioned part # DL15721 which has the auto brake and a 2,500 lb capacity. For a 25 foot wire rope that would be just right for your application with same weight capacity you'd then want the # DL24102 as well.
