Bike Rack Recommendation for 45 Pound Lighter Weight eBike
Question:
Will this rack support an ebike which is 40-45 lbs. Chances are this will be the only bike I carry unless I add my other bike which is approximately 25 lbs. Does this rack work well with an ebike with fenders?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Thule limits the weight capacity of any one bike to 35 lbs on their DoubleTrack Pro, part # TH92BJ. The DoubleTrack Pro is indeed compatible with bikes that have fenders, but the weight capacity won't allow this to be an option for you.
I do have another less expensive option for you. Take a look at the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider, part # HR200Z. This rack handles bikes weighing up to 45 lbs, which is perfect for your bike. Hollywood Racks makes an excellent product, and and the Trail Rider is no exception even though it lacks the ability to fold up against the rear of the vehicle when it's not being used like the DoubleTrack. The rack does include keyed-alike locks and is compatible with bikes that have fenders. Once the bikes are removed, the center mast folds flat to allow access to the rear of your vehicle. I've linked you with some product demonstration videos that show both the Thule DoubleTrack Pro and the Hollywood Racks Trailer Rider in action.
