Can B&W Biker Bar be Used With Aluminum Trailer

Question:

I Have a 7x16 Aluma brand enclosed cargo trailer. Will the aluminum floor of the trailer be strong enough to handle the loads of the base plate of the Biker Bar?

Expert Reply:

When it comes to mounting the B&W Biker Bar Motorcycle Tie-Down System for Trailers - Harley-Davidson Touring # BWMC2301, it isn't the base plate that your aluminum needs to handle but the weight of the bike, as you can see by the cut out of the linked installation instructions. We do not have any type of information about how thick your floor is or what capacity it can handle which means you need to determine the capacity of your trailer's floor, possibly by contacting the trailer manufacturer, to see if it can handle the weight of your bike. It is also recommended you use at least 3/4" of plywood for added support of the base plate.

I have added a link to a video install of this bar for you to take a look at, as well as the instruction manual.
