Can an Electric A-Frame Trailer Jack be Used for a Salt Water Boat Trailer
Question:
I am contemplating using the LC285318 on a salt water boat trailer, is it suitable for that use. The jack motor would never get submerged, but the foot of the jack might in rare occations. Has there been others who have put this jack on a salt water boat trailer, and how durable are the components of the LC285318 for such use.

Expert Reply:
The Electric A-Frame Tongue Jack, # LC285318, is not ideal for marine applications. The jack steel leg has a black powder coat and the foot is not painted. Otherwise, it should perform well. None of the powdered jacks we carry are designed specifically for marine applications. The possibility of getting the motor and/or electrical connections and shorting out the jack turns most towards a traditional jack for marine applications.
The Fulton F2, # F1413250334, would be a good choice. You could add a wide single wheel, # F500266 if you wish.
