Can Blue Ox Bolt-On Base Plate Bracket Kit be Installed at Different Measurement Than 21-1/8"

Question:

I have a 1982 Ram charger. After market bumper that will have to be beefed up. The installation instructions are pretty specific on measurements. How critical is it that I maintain the 21 1/8inch distance between the base plate inner bolt holes. The frame may not allow. How close can I mount the plates?

I reached out to my contact at Blue Ox and he said that the 21-1/8" spacing is pretty critical for the installation of the Bolt-On Base Plate Bracket Kit # BX88230 but you can possibly get away with extending or retracting that by about 1". You also need to make sure that your front bumper is strong enough to handle the weight of your 1982 Dodge Ramcharger.

For a complete flat towing setup you will need a base plate kit, tow bar, safety cables, vehicle tow bar wiring, a supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. If you do not have all of these components just let me know and I can make some additional recommendations for you.
