How to Determine if 2017 Ford F-250 Short Bed has OEM Puck System

Question:

I have a 2017 ford f250 super duty diesel short bed, does it have the bed prep for a fifth wheel or gooseneck?

The OEM puck system is optional for Ford pickups so the only way to tell if your 2017 Ford F-250 has the puck system or not is to physically look in the bed for the pucks like what you see in the attached photo.

If you do have the puck system then I recommend going with the B&W Companion # BWRVK3370 because it features a dual-cam latching handle that prevents binding and allows you to release the jaws even when you're on unlevel terrain. This is also made in the USA and comes with a limited lifetime warranty so you can be confident that you are getting a quality product. To tow a gooseneck trailer you'll need a hitch ball kit like the B&W # BWGNXA2061.

If your Super Duty doesn't have the puck system then I recommend installing the B&W Companion # BWRVK3400-5W which installs in the B&W Gooseneck Hitch # BWGNRK1116-5W. This kit offers the same benefits as the Companion mentioned above with the only difference being that it has a shank that drops into the gooseneck receiver. This means that when you remove the 5th wheel hitch you can either tow a gooseneck trailer or you can flip the gooseneck hitch ball upside down in the receiver for a clear bed.

In this case an in-bed 7-Way like the Bargman # 50-97-410-010 is also recommended because it makes connecting and disconnecting your trailer wiring much easier.
