Does 50 Amp RV Need to Have 30 Amp Surge Protection Using 30 Amp Power

Question:

Hello, My rv has a 50amp service and I have 50amp surge. Many times a camp ground will only have a 30amp service. If I put a 5030amp reducer on will the surge protector still work? And do I reduce it before or after the surge protector? Thank so much

If you power your 50 amp service RV with 30 amp power you'll be fine as long as you are aware that your amperage is not lower than normal which means you won't be able to run as many electricity power accessories at any given time.

The surge protector is for protecting the wiring of your RV though so there's no reason you'd have to go down to a 30 amp protector. Your RV can handle up to 50 amps so there's nothing that's going to harm it between 30 and 50.
