Comparing the Reese Install Kits RP50082-58 and 50043-6008 for a 2001 Ford F-350
Question:
I got a previous answer stating this: : There are two types of install kits for your 2001 Ford F-350, custom fit kits which do not require any drilling into the frame and universal kits which do require drilling into the frame. That said, each brand is going to offer a universal and custom fit kit for your F-350 which is why you see so many options. I recommend the Reese Universal Installation Kit part # RP30035 which requires drilling into the frame or the Reese Custom Installation Kit part # RP50082-58 which does not requires drilling into the frame. The universal kits are going to be more cost effective than the custom kits. However, when calling I was given part number 50043-58 as the custom installation kit number. Which is it? I cant seem to get a straight answer as to which fits my vehicle....

Expert Reply:
The Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit part # RP50082-58 replaced the Reese Quick-Install Custom Installation Kit part # 50043-6008 so they are both correct. The new kit has more access holes and the location of the tabs are different which aids in the installation process therefore making it much easier than the old kit.
