Wires Functions of Both Wires on Fan-Tastic vent

2012 Montana camper with old fantastic vent with new one with remote. The new one has 2 wires and the old vent has a lot of wires.

I was unable to find an order number to determine exactly which vent you purchased from us but it sounds like you are talking about the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Remote # FV807350.

If this is the fan you bought from us you are correct that it has two wires, one white and one which is black. The white wire simply gets grounded to a bare metal surface while the black wire is the power wire; you will need to connect this directly to your battery or a 12 volt circuit by using 16 gauge wire # 16-1-1 which is sold by the foot. The wires in your old vent are not going to be something you have to be concerned with because some vents wire differently so this aspect can be ignored.

To install the Fan-Tastic Vent # FV807350. on your trailer you will need the Roof Vent Installation Kit # 344270KITW.
