Troubleshooting Lippert Electric Trailer Jack that Struggles to Extend and Retract
Question:
I have a 18” electric trailer jack, the light works on the mail head, but the retract and extend has very little power. Seems light the motor isn’t putting our the power to retract or extend like it use too. Can I just replace the motor.

The motor itself for the Lippert Electric Trailer Jack # LC285318 that you referenced is not available by itself as a replacement part but I recommend checking a couple of things on your jack before assuming the worst.
From what you described it sounds like you might simply have a weak power source. First make sure that the battery you're using to power the unit is fully charged and in good condition. Also check the power wire for any pinched or damaged areas leading to the battery that need to be repaired/replaced.
Lastly check to make sure the ground connection is secure. This particular jack grounds through its mounting hardware so be sure where it's bolted to the trailer frame is free of any debris or corrosion that might be preventing a strong ground, cleaning out as needed.
If the jack still has trouble extending and retracting please let me know and we can continue to troubleshoot.
