Should Camera of Marker Light RV Side Cameras Be Above or Below Clearance Light

Question:

I have a 5th wheel, what is the preferred method to install the marker lights. Camera up or down. Thanks

The most common way to install the side marker cameras part # FCE48TASL is with the camera above the light like in the picture I attached.

Can the cameras be mounted upside down, meaning the camera is lower than the clearance light? I am guessing this means switching the camera from one side to the other from it’s original designed location and orientation. If this can work, will the view be upside down? I am asking because on my camper, if installed as preferred, on the door side of the camper there is a awning leg that would inhibit the view of the side of the camper which is what I am after to assist in backing. Thanks in advance.

I reached out to my contact at Furrion and he said unfortunately the camera view would indeed be upside down on the monitor if installing the clearance lights this way. He also said he doesn't recommend doing this because it would expose the vent that's on the assembly (putting it on top instead of the bottom) which will increase the risk of water getting inside the camera.

@ChrisR Thanks for the response. I was afraid that was the way it might work.
