Curt Spring Bar Retainer Package # 17109 for round bar weight distribution systems like # C17002 includes clips, locking pins and rivets; and the rivets do resemble screws when they are installed. The old ones need to be drilled out in order to install the replacement parts in the kit unless you can get a grip on them with pliers. They usually can be pulled out.

With weight distribution systems like the Curt TruTrack part #C17500 you can back up as long as you are going mainly straight. If you are going to jackknife the trailer you would need to disconnect the bars.
