Is One Time Fuse Blowing of SMI DUO Braking System Something to Worry About

Question:

I Have the Demco SMI Duo installed on my 2016 Cadillac SRX Toad for about 4 months now. This week on a long trip, I encountered my first problem with this braking. I blew the systems 20 amp fuse. I replaced the fuse, and now it is working again. Why did the fuse blow? Couple of theories...*these are theories only at this time. 1 We have a lot for rain on our 1500 mi motorhome trip from Florida to Ohio, with the SRX being towed. Maybe some wiring became wet and shorted out? I dont think so, as I was very careful to wrap the wiring to keep moisture out, but still could be the problem? 2 The SMI control bow was mounted next to the engine, between the engine and battery box. I had at least 3inch of clearance from the engine. But the control box does seem very hot after a drive with the SRX. ****I am thinking of installing a heat shield material on the outside of the SMI control box, just in case the heat may be a problem for the control box.....worth a shot..... Let me know if you have any ideas... Thamk you

A one time fuse blowing of your SMI DUO part # SM99251 is most likely an anomaly that would be nearly impossible to track down. If you don't see the fuse blow again I'd just chalk it up to a bit of bad luck in that moment and not worry too much about it. I don't think your heat shield idea is terrible, if it would give you some peace of mind you may as well try it.
