How To Obtain a Separate Stop Light Switch From a 2015 Winnebago Forza

Question:

Hi I have a toad 2017 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk fitted with a Smartbrake permanent install supplemental braking system behind a Freightliner XCS chassis Class A DP 2015 Winnebago Forza, which has a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller fitted under the coachs dash. Now, my Smartbrake expects a ON/OFF bservice brake signal on the CENTER pin of the round 7-pin tow connector yeah, strange, as that is wired for reverse lights, which I would have to disable as well as the modulated/variable signal from the Tekonsha on the trailer brake control pin. It will not apply the Jeeps brakes without that center pin service brake signal. My question is...can you think of a way to get a service brake signal to that center pin on the 7-pin plug connector? At first, I thought Id install a signal wire from the rear center LED brake light on the coach and feed that to the center pin, but the issue with that is the the engine exhaust brake ALSO lights up that brake light, and I cant have the Jeeps brakes on from the coachs engine brakes alone. The Smartbrake tech says I have to run a new, separate, wire all the way from my service brake red wire, to the 7-pin center pin on the rear of the coach. Im trying to avoid having to do that. Any alternatives come to mind? I wondered about a 2-into-3 trailer brake converter, usng the coachs Left flasher/brake pin wire and the right flasher/brake pin wire to get a separate brake output signal ignoring the left and right flashers which already work fine on the Jeep, and using that, but the Smartbrake tech says that wont work....possibly because the signals are also sent from the exhaust brake for the brake lights.

It sounds like you need to obtain a stop light switch signal from the 2015 Winnebago Forza and then have this sent to the center pin on the 7-way in order for the Smart Brake Supplemental Braking System to work properly. If that is the case then I recommend installing a standalone stop light switch, the Roadmaster Universal Stop Light Switch Kit part # RM-751000 as this will then allow you to send a signal to the center pin on the 7-way only when the brake pedal in the Forza is depressed. It will not send a signal with the engine brake.
