Parts Needed to Add a 7-Way and Wiring for a Brake Controller on a 2008 Nissan Frontier

Question:

2008 Nissan Frontier without tow package. I previously installed the Nissan kit for a 4 pin connector. Installed a jumper behind the pass. side kick panel. 4 pin connector works. Now want to install 7 pin connector. I have a 7 pin connector adaptor that plugs into the existing 4 pin connector but dont have signal for brake or power to charge the trailer battery. There are 2 remaining unconnected wires on the adaptor. There are 2 connectors beneath the frame in back of the truck. The one with 4 pins works, the one with 2 pins seems not to be getting power. Do I need the additional relays in Curt 57000? Something else under the kick panel? I have the prodigy brake controller. Just need to get the signal back to the trailer and also want to get power to the trailer battery. Seems the two pins on the previously unused connector should do those if I can get them turned on. Please advise. Thanks

Because your 2008 Nissan Frontier did not come with a factory tow package, it is not completely wired to accept a plug and play type of 7-Way or brake controller. But not to worry, installing one will not be as difficult as you might think.

I am not sure which 4-Way to 7-Way adapter you are using, but we recommend the installation kit # ETBC7 that comes with an adpater of its own. What you can do, instead of purchasing this whole kit, is to get all the parts you will need, minus the adapter.

You will need 25 feet of wire # 10-2-1, a 40 amp circuit breaker, # PK54540, a 30 amp circuit breaker, # PK54530, and wire ties, butt connectors, ring terminals, and quick splice connectors as needed.

I have included a link to an FAQ article and a video that shows the installation of an ETBC7 and a brake controller that should help you.
