Could 12 Volt Power Circuit of 7-Way Charge Two Trailer Batteries
Question:
I know that I can maintain one 12v battery by wiring it through 12+ lug on the 7-way plug. However I would like to mount a second battery in my trailer and Im wondering if I can wire it the sameway and maintain that one too. The truck Im pulling it with is a 2012 Chevy 2500 Duramax which has two batteries of its own and also has 2 alternators.

Expert Reply:
You can run the 12 volt power circuit of your trailer wiring to as many batteries as you like and it will put a light maintenance charge on them that will basically keep them topped off if they were fully charged. Even charging one battery like this won't put a significant charge on it so adding a second will split that in half.
