How To Secure an Inflatable Kayak to a Bare Roof
Question:
Hello, I just purchased a Lexus IS. I have an Airis Inflatable Kayak by Walker Bay. Could I run a strap through the hole in the block to attach the kayak to the blocks, and then rely on the bow/stern tie downs? Thank you for your assistance. I retired my Volvo and it had a roof rack.

If you wanted to use the Malone Deluxe Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs part # MPG152 then you would need to secure the foam pads to the roof in addition to running a strap though the pad to secure the kayak because the bow and stern tie-downs would most likely not provide enough force to keep the kayak secure.
The other option you have would be to use the Malone HandiRack Universal Fit Roof Rack - Inflatable part # MPG452. All you would need for this option is find a way to secure the kayak to the rack which could be down with part # MPG306 for the body and then part # MPG316 for the bow/stern.
