Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes Locking When Brake Pedal is Applied
Question:
Trailer brakes not engaging properly I have a 1980s Terry Taurus travel trailer with a Reece brake controller in my 2007 Chevy Trailblazer. when I touch the brake pedal just slightly the trailer brakes come on hard and then release instantly when you let off the brake if I operate the trailer brakes manually it slows down smoothly and releases smoothy, just like normal and also I can apply my brake pedal which help slow down the truck but if I dont do it manually and just use the brake pedal the trailer brakes instantly try to lock up and releases instantly rocking the truck back and forth.

It sounds like your brake controller either needs adjusting the gain for your brake pedal or there is an internal issue with your brake controller and it needs replaced. If it were a wiring issue then the manual brake override would not work the way you are describing.
I've attached an article to help with testing your brake controller, but it sounds like if basic gain control isn't the issue then replacement is the next step. I've linked the page to all your options for your 2007 Trailblazer.
