Can the Air Conditioner Be Used with the Adco Tyvek Roof Cover Installed

Question:

I work and clean our travel trailer when it is in the storage lot. I bring our generator to the lot and use it to power the entire trailer, including the AC. Since the AC is exhausting hot air from inside the RV will this cover block this exhaust air. Im avoiding a full cover because I do not believe the AC can vent with a cover all the way down to the ground. Whats your thoughts

The Adco Tyvek Roof Cover for RVs part # 290-36030 is not really designed for your vents to breath but rather protect the roof of your trailer from the elements. This roof cover is actually made out of the same material as most of our full covers. If you wanted to run the air conditioner while the cover is installed you would need to make a hole for the vent as it would most likely not allow enough air to pass through sitting directly atop.

To help give you a better idea of its venting ability, the Tyvek used in its construction is going to be more or less the same stuff on houses under the siding. Unfortunately, we really don't have any roof covers for you that will allow sufficient airflow to the air conditioner therefore, your best option would be to make a hole for the vent. If you did make a hole for the air conditioner while in use you could then cover this again when you leave with something like the Adco RV Air Conditioner Cover part # 290-3023. I have attached a full list of these below.

I just purchased and installed an Adco roof covering on my 40 ft coach I am at an RV resort and it just dawned on me that may be the air conditioners might not work as well with the cover on. Am I going to hurt the air conditioners if I have the cover on and the AC running?

As mentioned above, if you have the cover on while running the AC you'll really need to cut out a notch for the AC unit to allow for proper venting.
