Troubleshooting Trailer Brakes that Lock Up with Prodigy P2 When Reversing
Question:
I have a Progidy P2 controller that came in my 2012 Tundra. When I attempt to back my boat trailer the trailer brakes will lock up about 70 of the time. I know that I have power to the trailer because the trailer lights are on. So, I don’t know I have a brake controller, trailer, or truck trailer connector issue. Thanks for your help! Thanks,

Is your foot riding the brake pedal as you are trying to back up? If you are two-footing the brake and accelerator as your back up like some do that could explain it. The controller first looks for the stoplights to be on and then from there looks for changes in deceleration to determine how much brake to apply. If you have your foot on the brake at all the stoplights are on and the controller will be active.
