With a bike that weighs 225-lbs, you'll need a hitch that can support that plus the carrier. Luckily, the EcoHitch # 306-X7284 is rated for 300-lbs of tongue weight. Using the etrailer carrier for 2" hitches # e98873 (which weighs 58-lbs) will allow you to remain under the EcoHitch's limit (225 bike + 58 carrier = 283-lbs of tongue weight).

If you reconsider using a trailer, I recommend the # K2MMT4X6 or the small flat-deck utility type trailers often found at farm and outdoor stores. These are often not very costly.

If you want to go this route then I suggest the Curt hitch # C11474 instead of the EcoHitch because it costs substantially less. You'd also need a ball mount # 3593, hitch ball # 19256 and a wiring harness # 119178KIT if the trailer has lights.
