How To Determine Correct Replacement for Grease Seal 8752

Question:

Replacing 8752. Replacing the seal on an old, 1984 trailer, the spindle surface diameter is 1.67, seal diameter / race diameter is 2.33 LM67048 bearing. With of my seal is 0.4. This seems like a good fit, wondering if will work? The seal ID is 1/100inch larger than the spindle surface which worries me. Thanks in advance.

The correct way for you to determine the right replacement grease seal for your 8752 is actually by the inner diameter.

Seal # 168233 does have a 2.332" outer diameter and a 1.688" inner diameter, which you will need to match in order for this seal to be the correct replacement. You mentioned the "spindle surface diameter" of 1.67 but I am not sure where you measured that from. If you take a look at Point B on the accompanying diagram I added you can see exactly where you need to measure in order to find the correct replacement grease seal.

I have added a link to our selection of seals for you to check out once you have determined the inner diameter of the seal you need.
