ST235/85R16 Tires with High Speed Rating for 5th Wheel Toy Hauler

Question:

I hear from people that I should go to LT tires of equivalent ply instead of ST tires. Due to speed limits of 65 mph. Is this recommended

You don't need to switch to LT tires just to get a higher speed rating. We have special trailer (ST) tires in both various weight carrying capacities and speed ratings. Many ST tires are limited to 65-mph speed but some like the Kenda Karrier ST235/85R16 Load Range F Radial that you referenced can handle up to 81-mph speed, an M speed rating.

For a 5th wheel toy hauler trailer I recommend you select one of the ST tires shown on the linked page; these include the Kenda referenced above. The best way to go is to divide the trailer's GVWR by the number of tires on it; this will tell you the minimum weight capacity needed per tire. Then you can choose the appropriate load range, E, F or G, so that you have a safety margin in your tire weight capacity.

The highest capacity ST235/85R16 tire we offer is the 14-ply/G-rated Taskmaster Provider radial # TTWPRG235R16 which can handle 4400-lbs per tire at 80-psi in a single tire setup. This tire also has the M speed rating meaning it is good to 81-mph.
