Coach Steps Work Backwards On 2013 Thor Motor Coach Chateau Citation
Question:
Hi. Steps would not extend so I jumped the motor and it extends and retracts so motor works. Hooked everything back up and turned ignition switch on to see if it would override but steps stayed out. Figured it would be the module so replaced with same partnumber that was on my 2013 Thor citation 164889. Installed new module and still no joy. So I tested per step manufacturer using the pigtail. With green module wire grounded to steps and other green wire grounded to chassis I ran a ground wire from green step wire to negative side of a new 12v battery and red wire to positive of battery. Steps were already extended so they retracted, which I thought nothing should happen. Hooked up brown wire to ground and steps extended. Everything is backward! Hooked up red, white and yellow to positive and green and brown to negative and steps extended. Removed brown and steps retracted, everything is backward. Is there something I’m doing wrong? This is the second etrailer module and no joy. Thanks

I spoke with Lippert about the issue you are having and they said that the motor has reversed polarity for one reason or another. Their advice was to take the casing off the back side of the motor, remove the inner shaft, and rotate the magnet wheel 180 degrees. If this does not fix the issue then you would need to replace the motor with the Replacement Motor for Lippert Electric Coach Step part # LC301695.
