Fit of Hopkins Vehicle Side 7-Way and Bargman Trailer Side 7-Way
Question:
I have a brand new Hopkins vehicle side 7 pin, and just purchased this Bargman 7 pin trailer side. They do not mate together. All the male leads on the Hopkins are of equal size. All the female leads on the Bargman are not of equal size. Some are smaller than others. Because of the smaller female leads on the Bargman, the wider blades on the Hopkins vehicle side, do not fit, and stop it from making a connection. I wish I would have known this ahead of ordering. I need to return this item or purchase a vehicle side 7 pin that matches this Bargman trailer side. I looked at other brands vehicle side, and they also have the same size male leads.

I went out to our warehouse and paired the vehicle side Hopkins connector, part # HM40950, and the Bargman trailer side, part # 54006-009, and I was able to get them together but it certainly took more effort than it normally would.
The double-wipe design, as Bargman calls is, makes it more difficult for the blades to fit in but once I got them together and the hook secured in place the connection was solid.
