How to Correctly Determine Wheel Bolt Pattern

Trailer hub. My d measurements on hub is 2 7/8 would this be 5 on 5

If you are attempting to determine your bolt pattern and got 2-7/8 inches for your "D" measurement (like in the accompanying diagram) it does not mean it would be 5 on 5" because it could just as easily be a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern.
What I recommend doing is measuring from the center of one bolt hole to the outside edge of the bolt hole farthest away from it on your wheel. This is the easiest method to determine the correct wheel bolt pattern.
