Will the Reese Goose Box Fit a Flatbed Truck with Recessed Hitch Ball and Side Tool Boxes

Question:

I have a 2018 Montana high country 305RL that I am looking to put the Reese Goosebox on and start pulling it with my 2007 RAM 3500 dually welding rig with deck. My question is will the reese goosebox work on my Bradford Built deck with the two tool boxes on the sides? the tool boxes are roughly 8.5inch high by 16inch wide. Leaving roughly 5.5 feet in between the boxes. I would of course remove the vise. My concern is when making turns will the goosebox hit the tool boxes? The gooseneck ball is beneath a floor plate on the deck sitting roughly 3inch below the deck I Believe, but I am sure I could make an adapter to make the ball sit flush with the top of the deck to gain added height. After looking at some measurements and pictures I THINK the goosebox should clear no problem even at a 90 degree turn. Given the slope of the pin box. Any thoughts would be great! thank you!

I have attached some dimensional drawings of the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter part # RP85FR for you which should then help you get a good idea as to whether or not you will have issues with the tool boxes and recessed hitch ball on your flatbed. However, it wouldn't really be possible to give you a definite yes or no answer as there are just too many factors involved. I will say that the closer you are able to get the hitch ball to the floor of the flatbed, the better off you will be.

Please note that the Reese Goose Box is designed to replace Lippert 1621, 1621HD, and 0719 pin boxes. If you have a Lippert 0115, 1116 and 1716 or Fabex 500, 503, 520, 530, 560 and 765 or RBW 7019 and 7028 then you can use the Spacer Kit for Rotating Turret for 5th Airborne and Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pins part # RP61301 to make the Reese Goose Box work for you. The Reese Safety Chain Kit with Clevis Hooks part # RP49151 is also needed regardless of which pin box you have.

How would a goosebox work with a Western Hauler bed with the ball mounted in the trough? Concerned about enough height adjustment.

You'll need to make sure you have enough space inside the recessed box for the Goose Box to attach. At 4" up from the bottom of the Goose Box (where it physically clamps around the gooseneck ball) the unit is 7-1/2" wide. As long as your square opening can accommodate this it will work well.
