Does the Exhaust Have to Be Lowered to Install the Draw-Tite Hitch 76268 on a 2019 Acura RDX

Question:

Do we have confirmation that you absolutely must lower muffler? In my 2016 RDX, same was stated, but I was able to get it installed without lowering muffler.

According to the installation instructions for the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 76268 which is a fit for your 2019 Acura RDX, the exhaust must be lowered temporarily in order to position the hitch up under the vehicle. If you are able to install the trailer hitch without lowered the exhaust then I would say well done but as this is not what the installation instructions say to do, we must recommend that you lower the exhaust. I took a look through the installation instructions which are attached for you and it looks like the two rear mufflers are in the way of the mounting brackets so I would be surprised if you were able install the hitch without lowering the exhaust.

If you are having or have had trouble removing the exhaust hangers from the rubber isolators then I suggest that you spray the isolators down with some lubricant and then use a large pry tool to pop them loose as this is going to be the easiest method. The special exhaust hanger removal tools will also work but they are not really needed for just a one time install.

Unfortunately, we have not yet had the chance to install the above hitch on a Acura RDX so I don't really have any install tips for you outside of what is listed above and in the installation instructions. I have attached a photo of what the hitch could look like installed for you as well. If you can tell me what you will be using the trailer hitch for then I might have some additional recommendations for you.

For a hitch I'd definitely go with the Draw-Tite 2" # 76268 and for wiring the Tekonsha T-One # 118800 (if your Acura has the Plus 12V Power Provision) or # 118804 (if it doesn't) will work perfectly to provide you with a 4-way connector. To upgrade this to a fully functional 7-way and 4-Way setup you'll use the Wiring Kit # ETBC7L. Assuming your travel trailer has brakes you will also need to add a brake controller like the excellent Curt Echo # C51180.
