Can 1,000 lb Fastway e2 Bars be Used with Head Unit for 800 lb System

Question:

I have made a mistake and purchaced the wrong size I have 1000lb pin weight. Are can I purchase the 10000lb bars or do I need a new hitch? If the 10000lb bars are the same diameter they should work right?

The Fastway e2 weight distribution (WD) 8,000 lb and 10,000 lb systems do use the same head units so you can easily use the 1,000 lb Trunnion Bars # FA92-01-1099 or 2 of the Rounds Bar # FA94-02-1099 with your current setup depending on which you have.

I will say that if your trailer tongue weight is right at 1,000 lbs then you will want to take it up one more step if you have the trunnion bars and use the bars rated for 1,200 lb tongue weight # FA92-01-1299. This is because when it comes to WD any cargo that site behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle acts as tongue weight. So if the loaded tongue weight of your trailer is 1,000 lbs then you will likely still be overloading your system even with the upgraded bars.

If you happen to have the round bar system then I recommend swapping it out for the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA92-00-1200 to accommodate any extra weight.

Also be sure that your hitch ball is rated high enough for your towing needs. I recommend going with the Equal-i-zer # EQ91-00-6140 rated for 14,000 lbs so that it is rated over what you will be towing.
