Recommended 205/75R15 Trailer Tires for Utility Trailer

Question:

My 5 x 8 utility trailer I bought several years ago came with General P215 75 15 tires. I would like to changeover to trailer tires. My axle is rated for 3500#. As a homeowner and DIY I haul mulch, topsoil, block, gravel, etc.. Rarely I haul over 100 miles. But I want to be ready. What do you recommend?

Helpful Expert Reply:

For a utility trailer with a 3,500 lb axle the best option is the Provider ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D, Item # TR20515D because it is designed with a reinforced sidewall for stability.

This size 205/75-15 tire will be 0.6" smaller in diameter and 0.4" narrower than your current 215/75-15 tires. You are smart to switch to trailer tires because they are going to be a much better option for longevity and durability when hauling.

The Provider Item # TR20515D tire that has a maximum capacity of 2,150 lbs at 65 psi so a pair of these will perfectly handle the capacity for a trailer with an axle capacity of 3,500 lbs.

I have added a link to a video review of this tire for you to check out as well.
