Are Load Resistors Needed to Fix LED 3rd Brake Light Function on 1995 Chevy C/K 1500

Question:

my original 3rd break light on my chevy isnt working. I tried replacing it with a lumen 89-1001103 chrome/smoke light replacement. As soon as i replace the unit the brake light comes on, the cargo light works fine. I was told I need a resistor to correc the problem. Is this true? If so, what resistor do I need and how do I install it? Thanks

Yes, you would need load resistors so that your LED 3rd brake light works correctly on your 1995 Chevy C/K 1500.

LED Light Bulb Load-Resistors # DI34ZR are the best option for your application.

I tried calling to get some technical info on the wiring for the specific light you mentioned but I wasn't able to get anywhere with tech. What you need to do is use the quick splices to place this on the wiring that carries the brake signal. Since that is the only function that isn't working correctly you shouldn't have to put it on any other circuits.
