Towing Capacity of 2015 Ford Escape Titanium with 2.0 Liter Turbo

Question:

I have a 2015 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0 Turbo and am thinking about purchasing a boat and trailer. The boat and trailer weigh about 1,900 pounds. My car does not have the factory tow package which would include trailer anti-sway. I see that you have class III hitches available for my vehicle but am I looking for trouble if I tow without trailer anti-sway? Also, would this simply be too much weight for this vehicle to tow? I appreciate any help/ recommendations you can give. Thanks

I looked up the towing capacity of your 2015 Ford Escape Titanium 2.0 Turbo and it has a capacity of 3,500 lbs so a 1,900 lb boat and trailer wouldn't be an issue at all. The factory trailer anti-sway feature that your vehicle lacks is not something you have to have. You'll do just fine without it.

For a hitch I recommend the Draw Tite # 75782 that you referenced because it has the same towing capacity as your vehicle at 3,500 lbs, has a 2 inch opening, and has a concealed crosstube which makes it a bit less visible. Check out the attached install video link and picture.

For trailer wiring I recommend the Tekonsha kit part # 118566 because it installs without requiring any splicing or hardwiring and has the most reliable converter box of all of the kits we offer.

Since you plan on doing some towing you might be interested in etrailer ball mount kit # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts; one with a 3/4 inch rise or 2 inch drop and one with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop. It also includes a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.

If the ball mount kit does not include a ball mount with the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
