Trimming or Removing Metal Air Deflectors on 2007 Toyota Yaris to Install Roadmaster Base Plate Kit

Question:

Have 2007 Yaris, 2 door hatchback. I’m purchased this kit and reading the instructions. Step 20: before installing the main receiver brace trim or remove the metal air deflector on each side. If trimming use the yellow marker...I’m not clear on what to do on this. Do I trim it or? Thank you.

Roadmaster is basically giving you a choice with regards to the metal air deflectors on your 2007 Toyota Yaris when installing the EZ Base Plate Kit # 521181-1.

If you want to leave the deflectors in place for a cleaner look then you will just need to trim the area outlined in yellow in the instructions so the base plate brackets can be mounted. Otherwise the deflectors on each side can just be completely removed which might be a bit easier but you won't be able to reinstall the plastic air deflectors that were removed earlier in the process.
