Recommended Flat Tow Setup for Blue Ox Tow Bar on 2008 Honda CR-V
Question:
Now I feel like a bit of a pain, but at least one more question . I want to outfit the coach with an indicator light running from the dinghy to the cockpit of the coach which will light when the dinghy breaks are applied. I feel like this is almost a necessary safeguard against a potential situation which could lead to bad consequences. Thank you for your time and guidance.

For your 2008 Honda CR-V, you will want to start with the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX2246 which will be directly compatible with your tow bar. The tow bar you are describing is likely the old alpha or avail model, either of which will work just fine. If you want to determine which model you have, you can find it printed on the driver's side leg under the latch handle according to my contact at Blue Ox. If you don't have the safety chains, you will also want # BX88196.
Then for your tow bar wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 which will utilize your factory wiring for a clean look while protecting your electronics from overload. The Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass - 13" - 20-Amp Mini-Fuse # RM76511 is what you were seeking to avoid pulling fuses each time you tow. I also recommend the charge line kit # RM-156-25 to maintain your vehicle battery while towing.
If you already have a supplemental braking system, then you are almost to a complete system, but if you do not then I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251. This system will apply the brakes in your CR-V at the same time and with the same intensity as you apply the brakes in your Motorhome. This system requires no adjustment after the initial installation set-up and becomes a plug and play system that literally requires just a flip of the switch. It is a favorite with our customers because of the ease of use.
Finally, you will need a high low adapter. I've attached an article to help you with the measurements for safety and have linked the page to your options.

I think I have an incorrect wiring harness for my car. I think I ordered as suggested by someone. My car is a separate turn signal, break light and tail light system. I'm thinking I really need part number 154-792-118158. Can you confirm? The coach is a separate system too. I guess I would have to return we I originally received. I was successful at installing the tow plate. Bigger job than what it appears. Ha, I got it though. Thanks.
