Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be taking a look at the MKS Ezy Bike pedal. These are going to be a really nice addition to your Dahon bike. The main thing about these is that they're going to be able to quickly and easily disconnect from your bike crank arm so you can store them away, and save a little bit of space whenever you're trying to fold that bike up. The whole point of the Dahon bike is that you can fold it up and take it with you wherever you want to go, keep it stashed away in your apartment. And so having the most space saving you can is going to be important.

This is also going to be a nice pedal for those who want to have a clip-in bike pedal, but maybe aren't a little bit used to it.So let's take a closer look at the pedals themselves to get a better idea if they're going to be the right ones for you. So as we can see, on each of these pedals, they're going to have the Shimano split-binding system, so that's going to help to hold your cleat really tightly. And there's binding on either side so you don't have to worry about flipping around to find the correct spot. You can clip into either end there. It also has a cage going around the outsides, so that helps to give you a little bit more stability for your foot so you're not feeling like you're just going to fall off the edge of the peddle there. It's going to make it a little bit easier, especially, like I said, if you're just new into the clip-in bike pedals.

But if you want to, you can remove this cage, and then you just place these ends over the open side of the pedal to keep it all contained and closed up. So it gives you a little bit of options there. You can also make the adjustment to how tightly those bindings fit with the little adjustment screw on either side. It comes with the Allen tools or Allen keys to help you make those adjustments, so that's going to be these guys here, and also to remove that cage. So you can switch it up, make it how you would need it to be.The cleats come with it. These are attached to the bottom side of your shoe, and it allows you to clip in place.

Comes with a little backing plate, so that goes down on there, and then you'll use the two Flathead screws to actually attach to your shoe. There's a little bit of adjustment side to side, and you should also have a little bit of adjustment front to back so you can get that dial in so the ball of your foot is right over the binding. Now, as far as the easy adapter, the quick disconnect, it's going to be really easy to do. You just pull down on that collar to take the pedal on or off of your crank arm and replace it back. You can also get a pedal adapter so that you can switch this bike pedal from one bike to another without having to take this adapter on or off. So that makes it pretty easy.

It is sold separately here at etrailer.com. It's going to be a related product on the product page here, so you can get that to go with this guy. When you're attaching these initially, you do want to make sure to note the L and R. L is going to be for the left side, R is going to be for the right. It's going to be similar for a lot of these different pedals. You might notice that picture's a little bit different, but it's going to be the same for this pedal. The threads are going to be threaded differently, so that's why it's important to make note of that. The left hand side is going to have left hand threads, so you definitely don't want to get them mixed up.Also, whenever you're putting this onto your crank arm, you want to make sure that you use this little spacer here to keep this from backing back, or from releasing out. So whenever this little yellow C-clip is on there, it can't pull back because that's going to brace it against your crank arm. So that's going to be how it keeps it in place. It does also come with a spacer, so if there's any gap, you can take it up with that washer there. As far as measurements with the pedals, the spindle thread is nine sixteenths of an inch. Our pedals roughly measure three and three eights of an inch long by two and a half inches deep. If you take that cage off, it does make it a bit smaller, so it's about two and a half inches by about two and a half or two and a quarter. The distance from the crank arm to the adapter, at max, is 3.2 millimeters, and the weight for each of these pedals is seven and a half pounds.Whenever you're not using them, you can stash them in the little included bag, so that keeps them safe and tucked away from anything else. It has a little drawstring at the top.Our kit will also come with instructions on how to get everything in place, and also how to make any adjustments should we need to.All in all, I think this is going to be a really nice pedal to add onto your Dahon bike. It's going to give you a really secure place for clipping into that pedal, so that way you get a really good stride out of your bike.Clip-in bike pedals give you a much more efficient stride, so you're not wasting any energy. Great for long rides, great for touring. So definitely something that's going to be a nice addition if you plan on doing that kind of thing. That's going to do it for me. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com again. So thanks for watching and we'll see you next time.
