Recommended Replacement AC Unit for a Daybreak Motorhome with Carrier AC
Question:
I have 2 Carrier AC units on my 2004 Daybreak 3270 Motor Home, the front unit works well. On the rear unit the breaker will not reset. I can turn off main breaker and it will reset but will trip as soon as I turn on main breaker, this is a dedicated 20 amp breaker for the rear AC only. If I use the Advent Air 15,000 BTU can I use my wireless remote ? My Motorhome is not equipped with any hard wiring for an external thermostat. Is it a turn key installation. What is the weight difference between the Carrier and the Advent? I have a fiberglass roof, any problem with the extra weight? Is this a DIYer or do I need professional installation. I have installed the Dometic on my other Travel Trailer without any problems. I need something that will interchange pretty quick.

I spoke with my contact at Advent Air regarding your setup and replacing the rear Carrier AC Unit with the Advent Air # ACCAR150. He said that as long as you are keeping the control box for your Carrier system you will still be able to use your existing wireless remote to control the new Advent Air unit.
This system does include the Carrier Wiring Adapter Kit which will allow for a pretty simple and quick installation. Since you have installed an AC unit before you shouldn't have any issues (they have only become easier to install over the years). I have attached an image of the instructions for the wiring kit specifically so you can see exactly what is involved.
I wasn't able to pin down an exact weight on your current Carrier AC unit but the range I was finding looks like there won't be much of a difference, if any, when installing the Advent Air # ACCAR150 in its place. Just for reference this unit weighs in at about 80 pounds total including the shroud.
