Replacement Tandem Axle Pontoon Trailer Brakes and Alternative Axle Option
Question:
I have an older float on Pontoon trailer with tandem Reliable 2700 LB torsion axles with brake mounting brackets. Id prefer to run 10 inch brakes verses the 7 inch due to the self adjusting option, but am struggling to find 10 inch brakes drums that fit straight spindles with L44649 bearings. Are there drums or adaptable bearings that would make this conversion fit? Or are there self adjusting 7 inch brakes available?

There are not 10 inch brake hubs compatible or 7 inch self adjusting brake assemblies from any of our manufacturers. The Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 7" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 2,000 lbs # AKEBRK-2 is my recommendation for your trailer with L44649 bearings.
Your only option to upgrade your brakes and hubs to a different size is to replace your axles. Because you have torsion axles, the easiest option is to use the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System w Electric Brake Hubs - Straight Spindle - 3,500 lbs # A35RS545E. This combination will give you the 10 inch hubs and brakes, the integrated suspension, and the compatible axle width for your trailer. These axles require a 2 inch square bar (not included) to use in the integrated holes unless there is a cross brace of the frame in that axle location.
