Will Demco Hijacker Autoslide Fifth Wheel Hitch for Ford Factory Rail Kit Have Turn Clearance

Question:

Hi, I have a 2019 F350 CCSB with 5th wheel prep. We are looking at getting a 2019 Pinnacle 36FBTS. I have been researching on what hitch to get and knowing the cab clearance issue especially with a wide body 5th...102inch wide. In the calculation you have A+B=C formula. Your site states 36+22=58inch but the slide B is only 14. I have cab measurement of 40-41 inch cab clearance to C/L of axle. Where are you figuring the 22 inch to add to the cab clearance. Site reference is Wanting to know where the extra 8inch 22-14 of slide of clearance is coming from or how you figure especially if the hitch is actually an inch or two in front of axle C/L? Thanks,

Sounds like you are looking for the formula for determining if you have enough clearance to make 90 degree turns with a fifth wheel trailer hitched up to a truck.

The formula you are referring to is this:

(A + B) - C = Clearance
A = Distance from the fifth wheel jaw center to the truck cab
B = Offset used (slider clearance or Sidewinder offset)
C = Width of the nose of the trailer divided by 2.

So the numbers you listed would look like (41 + 14) - 51 = 4 inches of clearance. This would be enough to make a tight turn. The other numbers you mentioned aren't relevant to your setup so I wouldn't worry about them.
