Tire Chains for Use on 2018 Chevy Tahoe Z71 with Tire Size 265/65-18

Hi etrailer... I saw on your web site a question submitted by a person who owned a 2016 Suburban Z71 indicating their owners manual recommend not to use chains for 265/65 18 tires. I have just bought a 2018 Tahoe Z71 with the same size of tires and am wondering if you’re recommendation to use the Glacier Cable Snow Tire chains with the multi arm adjusters applies to Tahoe I have purchase? I’m planning to take this vehicle to the Purgatory, Colorado area in mid February and know I need some type of traction aid to deal with the snow. Appreciate your help!

When it comes to using tire chains of any type the auto maker gets to have the final word. Some vehicles can use chains only on specific tire sizes or only on one axle or the other. Your 2018 Tahoe can come from the factory with either 18-inch, 20-inch or 22-inch tires, as shown on the linked page for tire chains.

I checked the online owner's manual for the 2018 Chevy Tahoe and on pages 356-357 the manual indicates that standard tire chains should NOT be used on tire sizes P265/65R18, P275/55R20 or P285/45R22 but that special low-profile S-Class traction devices CAN be used on the REAR tires only. I do urge you to check your own printed manual in case it differs from the online version.

For your tire size 265/65-18 we offer several of the low-profile S-Class traction devices that appear on the linked page.
