Is Top Plastic Piece Supposed to be Removed from Thule Quick Grip Mount Assembly

I have a quick grip system with my Thule cargo box and the top screws were unscrewed completely when I removed the box from my old car. Now that im ready to install the box on my new car I cant seem to get the plastic screws rethreaded into the grips. Any suggestions? It doesnt look like they were designed to come out and get reinstalled.

You are correct in that the top piece is not supposed to be removed from the Quick Grip Mount Assembly # TH05738. Unfortunately you will need to replace the whole mount assembly. I confirmed this with my contact at Thule.

Just the portion that covers the clamps of the Quick Grip is not something Thule makes available separately (which I verified directly with them) so to replace that you would need to replace the whole Quick Grip for your Thule Atlantis. What you will…

The rubber pieces that are on the claws of the Replacement Quick Grip Mount Assembly #TH05738 aren't available separately so if yours are no longer there and you are wanting to replace them you will need a whole new mount assembly.
