Could Nuts and Bolts be Used to Install Friction Sway Control Instead of Screws
Question:
Hello, I have a 30ft 6500lb travel trailer and want to install a friction style sway control. My question is can I drill through both sides if rectangular tubing on one side of A frame to mount sway ball? The bolts provided simply do not tighten down and this would provide peace of mind for me over 4 screws. Will drilling through frame small pencil size bolts hurt the integrity of the frame?

Helpful Expert Reply:
If you wanted to run bolts all the way through the frame of your trailer and then have nuts on the other side to install a friction sway control unit like the Reese part # 83660 you certainly could do that. People drill the frames of trailers for similar installed products like weight distribution system chains hangers etc.
