Wiring Needed to Install a Brake Controller on a 2017 Chevy Express Van 3500 Without Tow Package

Question:

Apparently the truck does not have the tow package. The person installing the brake controller said that the fuse block is not wired for trailer lights, signals etc. Is there a solution for this?

We do have a solution for you!

Since your 2017 Chevy Express Van doesn't have the factory tow package you will need to start off by installing a 4-Way connector. I recommend the T-One # 118392 if you don't have very many trailer lights or the Hopkins # 31345 if you have quite a few trailer lights. The T-One draws directly off of your OEM wiring while the Hopkins draws power straight from your battery via the included 12V wire.

Once the 4-Way is in place you need to install the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This comes with all of the wiring and connectors that you need for a fully functional 7-Way.

We actually have installation videos of these various wiring components being installed on a 2017 Express Van which I have linked for you to reference. The brake controller used in the ETBC7 video is the popular Prodigy P3 # 90195 which is a proportional brake controller that has a standard installation process.
