Can the Curt 7-Way Extension be Used with a PowerMax Converter to Power Trailer

Question:

Hi - I would like to purchase this extension and take the trailer side 7pin end off round connector female off it and wire that to a 45 amp 12volt converter and use the truck side end square connector male to plug into another cargo trailer to power the inside lights. The convertor I purchased is a powermax 110 to 12 volt dc. It has a positive, negative, and ground off the back of it. It plugs into a 110 source and converts that power to 12volt. Would this idea work? If so, how would I wire this extension to the positive, negative, and ground to get it power the other cargo trailers lights? The cargo trailer has a 7 pin also. I’m not worried about the turn signals and outside lights powering. Just the inside lights. Thanks for any insight you can provide.

Instead of using the Curt Extension # C56080 I recommend using the Bargman # 50-87-009. This comes with an extra 2' of wiring and it already has the female end disconnected so less work on your part!

Then the correct wires that you need are the black and white wires. Black is for power and white is for ground. Be sure to follow the instructions for your PowerMax during the installation.
