One Electric Trailer Brake Assembly Does Not Release After Applying Brakes
Question:
I replaced old brakes 10inch x 2 1/4 with dexter assemblies. Drums look fine. All brakes engage but 1 will not release until I turn the drum back. Theres a click and brake is free. All wheels are adjusted the same as far as I can tell. I think it is hanging up on the top anchor pin. Any suggestions?

You may be right. I would remove the assembly and check that all the components are in working order. See if you can get it to do the same thing while off the trailer by manipulating the various moving parts.
Some of the parts may need to be properly lubricated but do not get any grease on the pads. You could also have a magnet or wiring issue that is causing the magnet to stick. You can test the magnet by itself to see if it is faulty. I have included a link to an FAQ article that explains how to go about testing a magnet. You will need a multimeter like # PT89ZR if you do not already have one.
You can also test the wiring to the magnet. Make sure the ground is connected to a clean bare metal surface and that the power wire is intact to the trailer connector. If you can hear the brake hum after releasing the brakes that would indicate that the magnet is still receiving power and there is probably a short circuit somewhere or a bad magnet.
