Trailer Hitch to Carry a Saris Hitch Mount Bike Rack with 2" Shank with a 2017 Subaru Legacy
Question:
I have an older Saris bike rack that uses a 2 inch receiver. Is there an adapter for this hitch and straps to stabilize the rack once in position? I want to use it on a 2017 Subaru Legacy. IIs there a 2 inch hitch that would be appropriate for this ca?

We actually have a solution for your 2017 Subaru Legacy to carry your Saris bike rack without the use of an adapter!
The Curt Trailer Hitch # C12298 that you referenced fits a 2010 - 2014 Subaru Legacy so it won't be compatible with your 2017 model. If you like the Curt look then you would want to go with the Curt # 13390 instead which is a fit for your newer model year and has a 2" receiver.
Curt does require that the stabilizer strap # 18050 be used per their warranty so if you'd rather not use the strap we have the Draw-Tite # 75673 which has a slightly different design but still uses a 2" receiver. Draw-Tite does not require that a strap be used for non-trailer loads so you would have less parts to think about toting around just to carry your bike rack.
If you are still interested in an adapter would you be able to send me a picture of your bike rack? We have universal adapters like the Brophy # HTAD but these reduce the weight rating of your hitch by 50%. If you have another vehicle with a 1-1/4" receiver that you would like to use with your Saris bike rack it would be better to use a direct adapter that was made for the rack.
