Recommended Hitch for 2018 BMW X5 with M Performance Package

We are soon picking up our new BMW X5 (2018) and I want to have the hitch here ready for installation before we take our 1st family trip in the new vehicle. Our model has the 'M Performance Package' and I have heard that some hitches will not fit this model. Is there a definite hitch fit for our X5?

Curt's 2-inch Class III hitch # 13077 is a confirmed fit on your 2018 BMW X5 with the M Performance Package. The hitch comes with all required mounting hardware and it installs without need for drilling, just some rear bumper fascia trimming.
We have installed this hitch on several X5s and the linked video showing a 2017 model year will show you the whole process. I also included a photo showing the appearance of the finished installation.
If you intend to use a hitch-mounted cargo carrier like the Curt # C18152 you'll want to support that load with a strap like Curt's # 18050 or something similar. Their hitch warranty policy requires use of some kind of support for static loads like cargo carriers. You may also care to add a lock # 63232 to secure the carrier and to reduce any rattle.
